TRISC Featuring Security Blogger
The Texas Regional Infrastructure Security Conference (TRISC) looks to be an interesting event. This year’s event will be held at the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel in Austin, Texas. The following brochures provide more information: Full Page Flyer and Exhibit Brochure.

The session that drew my attention will be given by Michael Farnum, of An Information Security Place, titled “Information Security Research – Tapping the Blogosphere”. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say and hopefully he will get a great turnout.
Information Security Research – Tapping the Blogosphere
Michael R. Farnum
Many information security professionals have not discovered blogs as a tool in their research toolbox. This is unfortunate because of the large amount of data available on security blogs. Security blog writers include security analysts (whose advice used to cost thousands of dollars), security manufacturer employees (executives and techies), security consultants, and the every-day security professional working in the trenches. Because of this wide range of writers, the information and advice ranges from analyst data to real world experience.
Another highlight of this conference is going to be the Keynote address by Cybersecurity Expert Howard A. Schmidt . I was originally exposed to Mr. Schmidt at RSA and I am very impressed with his manner, speaking, and knowledge. Getting another chance to hear what he has to say should prove to be fruitful. Here is a snippet from some of the TRISC documentation I have recieved.
Howard A. Schmidt, one of the nation’s top cybersecurity experts, will keynote the third annual Texas Regional Infrastructure Security Conference (TRISC). Although there have been significant advances in information security at the enterprise level, Schmidt will discuss the emergence of new threats that have become more directed and financially motivated, as well as ways to combat them.
I believe that Martin McKeay till also be in attendance. I believe he is coming to support Michael’s blogger session as well as Cobia. Seeing both of these individuals will be great. Hopefully I can talk Michael into hanging around for dinner instead of hitting the road right after his presentation.
So, if you have some spare time swing on out. I will be covering the event for the blog and podcast. If you would like an interview or would like to talk to me about your ideas or products just leave me a comment or drop me an email.
Go forth and do good things,
Cutaway

[...] I also found out yesterday that Cutaway, a blogging buddy of mine, will be there. This will be the second time we have met. We met at RSA in February at the blogger’s gathering, and I look forward to seeing him again. He blogged about TRISC here. [...]
